Almost every city in the US has some sort of nightlife with the exception of small farm towns and communities, but residents only need to drive to a nearby town or city to find some exciting entertainment. Nightlife includes restaurants for eating out, but it especially refers to entertainment, such as bars, pubs, theaters, clubs, casinos, and other forms of entertainment. Some nightlife is geared towards college students and younger patrons while other nightlife is more for adults.
Gambling is illegal in most states in the US, but other cities allow gambling. The cities of Las Vegas, Nevada; Reno, Nevada; Atlantic City, New Jersey; and some American Indian reservations have popular casinos in America. Casinos are usually large and hold many automated machines that take coins from pennies to higher amounts for a chance to win a jackpot. Dance clubs can be found in large cities, and large cities usually have a long list of clubs to choose from, such as New York City or Los Angeles. Many people prefer to see dramas, cabaret, comedies, or other performances that can be seen in Performing Arts Centers across America.
There are also boat cruises on large paddle boats that travel down rivers in some cities and provide dinner and entertainment as well as the beautiful sights along the way.
Some people prefer a more quiet nightlife, such as spending time at a bar or pub. Almost every city has a variety of bars and pubs. A newer trend in the US is the microbrewery with adjoining bar where a variety of quaint local beers can be found. Wine bars are also very popular places where a customer can try various wines and eat a gourmet meal as well.
