Skiing

America tours

Skiing may not be known as a major US sport, but there are many ski resorts in many states across America. In the western part of the country, there are many ski resorts near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Winter Park Resort is a famous ski resort that has more than 351 inches of snow annually to make for great skiing. Echo Mountain is the newest skiing resort in the state of Colorado with a casual and fun atmosphere.

California’s Sierra Mountains provide great skiing all around Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley USA is a resort with six mountains that are altitudes up to over 9,000 feet high. This resort overlooks the Sierra Nevada. Other skiing facilities in California are the Alta Sierra Ski Resort & Terrain Park which is located in the Sequoia National Forest near Bakersfield, California.

In Arizona, The Sunrise Park Resort is owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe. There are 65 trails spread over 3 mountains ready for skiing. Also in Arizona is the Elk Ridge Ski & Recreation Area, located at the southwest entrance of the Grand Canyon. Besides beautiful views, this skiing area has beautiful views and offers snowboarding and tubing.

States that are not around natural mountain ranges also offer skiing in the US. One of these is Perfect North Slopes in southeastern Indiana, about 30 minutes from Cincinnati, Ohio. A 400 foot vertical drop will keep any skier happy, as will the 23 trails ready for skiing. The feature at Perfect North Slopes is that all slopes are well lit for nighttime skiing until 1 am.

With modern snowmaking equipment, it is even possible to go skiing in the South in the state of Alabama. The Cloudmont Ski Resort has two 1,000 foot beginner and intermediate slopes. Lifts take skiers up to the top of the slopes that are 1,800 feet high.
