Adventure vacations

There are many ways to have an adventurous vacation in the United States. If tourists wanted to enjoy a winter adventure by skiing and snowboarding, there are numerous ski resorts in Utah. The ski resorts in Utah, which are considered to be the world's best, can be reached within an hour from the Salt Lake International Airport. If visitors also wanted to experience rock climbing, they can go to the neighboring state of Colorado, which has the famous Rocky Mountain. And while in Colorado, tourists can also see the area of inexplicable rock formations that is aptly called the Garden of the Gods.

Adventure also happens in the water. All over the country, there are numerous bodies of water where tourists can enjoy rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. For example, there is the 800 feet deep New River Gorge in West Virginia, where an unforgettable white water adventure awaits everyone. In the same state, adventurous tourists will find the Gauley River, where the turbulent waters are classed III and IV.

Perhaps adventure is best experienced on horseback. There are literally hundreds of Dude Ranches all over the country, especially in the Midwest region and Southern. These ranches offer a genuine experience of the cowboy life, along with the comfortable amenities of the modern world.

And for an ultimate adventure, visitors can head southwest to Arizona and see the Grand Canyon. Aside from the awe-inspiring landscapes, there are river rapids, lakes, forests, hiking trails, camping sites, and the skywalk. Considered as one of the largest parks in the world, tourists will need more than a day to explore all of the Grand Canyon.
