With a population of around 140,000 residents, Bridgeport Connecticut is best known as the home of circus legend PT Barnum and the first Subway sandwich restaurant. Bridgeport has multiple performing arts venues, including the Black Rock Art Center, Klein Memorial Auditorium, Downtown Cabaret Theatre and Arena at Harbor Yard. The Arena at Harbor Yard also hosts sporting events, including AHL Hockey and NCAA Basketball.
During the summer, Bridgeport serves as the current home of the Gathering of the Vibes. This is a four day outdoor festival that celebrates a wide variety of music and other arts, as well as raises awareness for local non-profit groups.
Bridgeport offers several attractions that are popular among visiting families. These attractions include the Discovery Museum, Beardsley Zoo and Barnum Museum. Bridgeport also lives up to its nickname of the "Park City," with over twenty-five public parks throughout the city.
