The weather in California varies like its landscape. Mild summers and mild winters are common in the middle cities such as San Francisco and Monterey. Heavy fog sometimes settles in San Francisco which has an average yearly temperature of 55°F. With the vineyards of Napa valley to the north and sizzling summers in the bustling city of Los Angeles in the south, California has it all. Any time of the year is perfect to visit this state.
To reach most of the cities in California, you have a choice of several airports. International travelers usually reach the USA through Los Angeles or San Francisco airports since they are both on the west coast and are easily reachable from Asia as well.
Travelers wishing to go sight-seeing in the various cities in California may rent cars from any of the airports. The roads have well designed highways and are planned with summer travelers in mind. However, if you would like to see a city at its best, it is better to book a guided tour in advance before you arrive in the US.
California claims to have the most tourist attractions than any other city in the world. The allure of San Francisco with its Golden Gate Bridge and rows of 2000 year old Redwood Sequoia trees that reach up to the skies can entertain the most demanding visitor. Try the clam chowder at the pier iand don’t forget to see the crooked Lombard Street that has been portrayed in many movies such as “The Love Bug” and enjoy a visit to Alcatraz prison!
Sunny coasts compete with snowy mountains and beautiful beaches (Newport, Laguna, etc) for your attention. Deserts to the northeast of Los Angeles can the beautiful city or San Diego while the inland valleys such as Death Valley reach almost a hundred degrees in summer. The people of San Francisco are a mix of Asian, American and Hispanic cultures.
You will find night clubs, performances, museums, dinner theaters, pubs and restaurants and upscale bars with a beautiful view of the entire San Francisco Bay.
Los Angeles (The city of Angels) is another city with a lot of family attractions. The famous Disney Land park, Hollywood studios, Beverly hill , Zoo, Botanical gardens, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Natural museum of history and several other attractions entertain the visitor. A studio tour while in LA and a visit to Universal Studios is a great idea. Driving down the Big Sur to Hearst Castle can be a thrill.
The Monterey Bay aquarium and the San Diego Zoo are also places to visit while in California. For those who would prefer camping out and sleeping under the stars, California offers a plethora of opportunities in every corner. One of the biggest natural attractions in California is the Yosemite National Park which is best known for its beautiful waterfalls and ancient giant sequoias dotting the vast area of wilderness that is so beautiful you’d never want to go home. The Food in California ranges from fresh seafood to Asian and American cuisine in the thousands of restaurants that dot the major cities and interstates.
