Although the population of Cary, North Carolina was less than 100,000 in 2000, it has grown to nearly 135,000 people in less than a decade. Cary is regarded for the general prosperity of its population, as well as the large percentage of its residents who have a college degree. Cary has three different golf courses, including the Lochmere Golf Club, Prestonwood Country Club and Macgregor Downs Country Club. Cary holds several popular events throughout the year, including the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, Cary Band Day, Dog Days of June and the Cary Road Race.
Cary has placed a major emphasis on the importance of its parks and recreations system. Its 23 parks offer trails for walking and biking, tennis courts and other outdoor recreation options.
