Denver, Colo. was created sometime in 1858 during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush in western Kansas territory when gold was discovered in Cherry Creek. This great city is named after the governor of Kansas, James W. Denver and is located between Rocky Mountains and High Plains. Due to the gold and silver mines that sprouted in the early 1800’s, Denver, Colo. gradually progressed and made its mark in the world.

Today, industries such as communication, transportation, manufacturing, and agribusiness are booming in Denver, Colo. Restaurant industry is also showing success economically. Popular food chains and restaurants like Chipotle Mexican Grill and Quizno’s were founded in here.

Tourists love this place. There are over 200 parks ranging from small mini parks to 314 acre City Park can be found in Denver, Colo. It also has 29 recreation centers for relaxation that tourists will surely enjoy. There are also other tourist attractions such as the Denver Zoo, the Six Flags Elitch Gardens amusement park, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Coors Brewery and nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. Transportation within and outside the place is easily accessible with RTD Light Rail car, Denver Union Station and Denver International Airport.

Famous natives and residents are comedian Tim Allen, Senator Alan K. Simpson and TV host Ted Mack.

Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, canoeing, hunting, fishing, ballooning and even golf! There are also many festivals yearly including the Denver Music Festival, the Western Stock show, Mesa Verde County Indian Arts & Cultural festival etc.

Denver Botanic Gardens

Spread across 23 acres of land, the Denver Botanic Gardens contain 15,000 species of plants, over 20,000 fungi and other exotic plants. A memorable outing is guaranteed for outdoors enthusiasts.

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is another attraction that draws a lot of visitors. This museum helps transport us to the earliest times in the history of Planet Earth and provides an overview of the Universe. All kinds of exhibits including Gems and Minerals, insects, wildlife and Native American cultures are represented.

Outdoor activities in Denver include attending a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, enjoying free jazz concerts at City Park or check out any of the summer festivals including Denver Renaissance festival, Denver Dragon Boat Festival or the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.
