USA Government

America tours

The government and how it works is not difficult to understand when learning about the United States. Several levels of government are involved beginning with the federal government, state government, city government, and county government. The entire United States of America is governed by the federal government. Besides that, each of the 50 states has state laws. Cities also have laws, then counties or townships have local laws. Visitors will be involved with the federal government before they enter the country and apply for a visitor’s visa in their native land. The federal government is also involved when visitors arrive at the airport or by ground or sea because US Customs & Border Protection will inspect their visa and paperwork to admit them to the US.

Government and how it works will also affect a visitor who drives a car because the driver must keep the laws of the state, city, and township where they drive. In large cities, such as New York City, the city police enforce traffic laws and give tickets to those who do not stop for red lights or at stop signs. If a person parks in a No Parking zone, the police will issue a parking ticket. International driving permits are not issued to visitors to the US, so visitors may want to get this license while they are still in their home country. City police may tell large crowds of people to disperse, and they help keep citizens and visitors safe.

Another thing about the federal government and how it works is that a visitor to the country may apply for a social security card. This card is needed in order to work in the US and for other reasons as well. Non-citizens may apply for social security cards, and they may receive authorization to work in the country as well.
