The city was once leveled during the American Civil War when Union forces occupied the city four times, but like a flower following a devastating forest flower, Jacksonville was still able to bloom and even become Florida’s largest city. During the rebuilding of the city, the city was not only rebuilt better, but also larger. With the aid of its natural harbor, ports and the new railroads, the city grew to be bigger and better than it was before.
The city of Jacksonville is the center of transportation throughout the state and participates actively in distribution. The strength of the city is not limited to its distributive advantage, the city has learned to balance its industries and focus not on a single industry only. All of Jacksonville’s diverse industries are well balanced and well kept in check. Distribution is but a part of the organism called Jacksonville. The city also has good biomedical technology, manufacturing, financial and commercial sectors. All of those sectors work together and help the city grow more and more. Also, due to the presence of South Atlantic’s largest deepwater port, Jacksonville is also the number one port when it comes to the United State of America’s automobile imports.
