During the last three decades, Lancaster's population has more than tripled to over 145,000 residents, making it one of the fastest growing cities in the country. A popular tourist destination and summer city, Lancaster has plenty to offer tourists by way of attractions and amenities.
In the Spring, Lancaster holds the annual California Poppy Festival. The festival attracts over sixty thousand visitors, and is held in Lancaster City Park to celebrate the arrival of the spring season. The city also holds their Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza during the spring, which features lots of entertainment and the Easter Bunny himself.
Bark at Park is held every October at the Lancaster City Park. The event is celebration for dog owners and their pets. On multiple occasions during the summer months, the city holds "Celebrate Downtown Lancaster." This event is a combination of a farmers' market and street fair. In July, the city hosts their annual 4th of July Celebration.
The city's main shopping center is Lancaster Marketplace. It features over twenty different stores, as well as dining and entertainment venues.
