The Home of Elvis Presley

The city of Memphis is the largest city in the State of Tennessee and it is located in the southwest corner of the state near Arkansas and the Mississippi. Long ago, the first settlers on this site were the Chickasaw Indians. They were a noble people who had built their village overlooking the Mississippi River. When the Chicksaw Indians ceded the area to the United States, the city of Memphis was officially established.

After the American Civil War, the population was devastated by several yellow fever epidemics, which forced the city into a decline and later bankruptcy. But due to its location the city was able to recover financially and later develop into what the city is today.

Today, Memphis is one of the busiest cities in all of America. During daytime, the city is filled with the buzzing of people going about their personal businesses and trucks passing the highways. However, when the time to have fun arrives, people immediately stop and have fun. The people of Memphis truly know how to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Here’s an interesting fact, did you know that Memphis is the hometown of a music legend namely, Elvis Presley. Yes, his is from the city of Memphis and he is a testament to how creative the people of Memphis can be.
