Minneapolis is located in the southeast central part of Minnesota and it is the largest city in the state. The name of city comes from two words, one of Sioux origin namely the word “minna,” meaning water and the second from the greeks, the word “polis” meaning city. When the railroads connected Minneapolis to the rest of America it became to be known as the “Gateway to the Northern Great Plains.”
Minneapolis is a center of huge industries. In fact, the headquarters of fifteen fortune 500 companies are located in the city. However, besides the fact that Minneapolis and its twin city of St. Paul are a center of industry and commerce, serving a large region they are also known to have a wide array of attractions.
Minneapolis has a wide collection of public art in the Minneapolis Sculpture garden, which can be the perfect place to engage yourself in some alternative activities. Another attraction in Minneapolis is its uptown district where many good restaurants are located. Minneapolis is also home to thriving and busy nightspots like the Envy nightclub. The city of Minneapolis also has a Mercado Central, a Mexican style market where many Mexican foods and goods are sold for reasonable prices.
