Immediately west to Manhattan, Newark is the most populated city in New Jersey and home to much of the state's economic and educational activity. The first city in the region to field a professional baseball team, Newark is now flush with major sports teams, providing ample opportunity for visiting sports fans to get in on the action. The New Jersey Devils and the Nets play at the Prudential Center for hockey and basketball respectively, while the New York Red Bulls have recently relocated to the Riverfront Stadium to bring professional soccer to the city.
