Ohio

America tours

The state of Ohio is in the Midwestern part of United States. The word Ohi-yo means “large creek” in the Native American Seneca culture. Nicknamed the “Buckeye state”, Ohio used to have a lot of buckeye trees from which the wood was used to many purposes in earlier times. The Capital of Ohio is Columbus although the busier cities are Cleveland and Cincinnati. Other cities in Ohio are Toledo, Akron, Dayton and Canton.

To the north of Ohio likes Lake Erie which offers a coastline filled with fun activities in summer. The southern border of Ohio is defined by the Ohio River. Summers are typically hot and humid throughout Ohio. Rainfall is quite moderate throughout the year. Winters are sometimes cold and there may be tornado activity throughout the year. Lake effect snowstorms are also possible in winter and spring. April through October is a good time to visit this state.

Foreign visitors arrive in Ohio through the Columbus International airport. Taxis are available in plenty, but it is a better idea to rent a car or use the shuttles to the hotels.
