Situated to the North of Dallas, Plano is one of Texas' largest cities, and a main commercial and industrial center in the region. Regarded as a particularly affluent city, Plano is regularly cited as one of the top places to live and visit in the US, with plenty to see and do for both residents and visitors city wide.
Plano is perhaps best known for its annual international balloon festival, which attracts some 100,000 patrons every year to mark the occasion with a range of performances and events, and the balloon releasing event that gives the festival its name. The Plano International Festival similarly attracts visitors in the tens of thousands to celebrate the diverse arts and culture of the Plano area.
Aside from its many parks and nature reserves, Plano is also popular amongst those with a passion for the outdoors, and the nearby Mesquite Theme Park provides a variety of attractions for families visiting the area.
