One of Nevada's largest cities, Reno is renowned for its casinos and gambling industry, and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each and every year for its nightlife and culture. Termed "the Biggest Little City in the World" for its close community feel, Reno is home to over 215,000 residents, and one of the first centers for gambling in the state before Las Vegas gained its worldwide reputation as the home of the casino industry.
Aside from its gambling attractions, Reno attracts visitors largely from California and the surrounding states for its annual festivals, renowned nightlife scene and cultural attractions. The annual Great Reno Balloon Race draws almost 150,000 visitors and residents alike, while Lake Tahoe on the border with California is popular amongst fishing and water sports enthusiasts in the summer months.
