Every city has its own unique story that tells of its past, but one city in Texas has a past riddled with conflict. San Antonio, the Alamo City, was originally a Spanish settlement up until the early 1800 when Mexico won it over from Spain. Shortly after the Mexican regime started, it was doomed to end for the Texas Revolution was up around the corner. During the revolution, the famous battle of the Alamo happened which enraged and emboldened the Texans to overthrow the Mexican government. With its history in conflicts, it is no surprise that today five of the United States of America’s largest military installations is situated in San Antonio.
After wars or revolutions, cities usually better themselves. San Antonio owed a lot to the railroads that came after the American Civil War for those railroads made San Antonio an important shipping point for cattle. Today, San Antonio is still a major livestock center; but of course, a city should not dwell with just one industry. San Antonio has many different industries. Tourism is also important and big in the city of San Antonio because of all the conflicts of the past, there are also many tourist spots and attractions.
