Named after Chief Sealth of Duwamish and Suquamish tribes, Seattle, Wash. is the most popular city in the northwestern United States. For at least 4,000 years, humans have inhabited the place. First five pioneer families who settled in Seattle, Wash. came from Illinois in 1851.
This hilly city is located between Puget Sound on the west and Lake Washington on the east and lies on seven hills namely Capitol Hill, First Hill, West Seattle, Beacon Hill, Queen Anne, Magnolia and Denny Hill.
It is the proud birthplace of rock legends like Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Seattle, Wash. has a reputation for heavy coffee consumption this is why it is not shocking that most of the popular coffee companies in the international scale like Starbucks, Tully’s and Seattle’s Best Coffee have their roots in this place. The fast development made the place the center of commercial, transportation, manufacturing, trade and finance. Significant industries include manufacturing and producing of aircraft, lumber and forest productions, fishing, high technology, food processing, boat building, machinery, fabricated metals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and apparel. According to studies, Seattle, Wash. has the second highest literacy rate in the whole United States of America with 52.4 percent of the residents aged 25 and older having bachelor’s degree.
