The state capital of Minnesota, St. Paul is an affluent and progressive city near the state's eastern border. Known locally as Pig's Eye after one of the earliest taverns to be established in the now city of St. Paul, there is plenty for visitors of all ages to indulge while visiting the city. The traditional St. Paul Winter Carnival welcomes hundreds of thousands of revelers every year, and has been a notable event on the city's calendar for over 120 years. Several of the city's parks and public spaces sit along the mighty Mississippi River, while the Downtown area is home to some 11 diverse museums and attractions, designed for visitors of all ages.
