The city of Topeka, established in the nineteenth century, is the capital of Kansas, and currently has a population of just over 120,000. The city has a short but interesting history, and tourists and locals can learn about life in early Topeka by visiting the Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site, where they can take part in a range of different activities and take a guided tour of the buildings.
Topeka is also home to the Combat Air Museum, where visitors can view a variety of aircraft and discover more about the history of America's military aviation.
In addition to historical sites, Topeka also has a wealth of public parks and gardens, many of which feature tennis courts and swimming pools for visitors to enjoy.
However, one of city's most popular tourist attractions is the Topeka Zoo, where visitors can view a wide range of exhibitions, and see animals such as bears, tigers and gorillas.
