The name of Tulsa city comes from the Creek Indian word “Tulsy,” that meant “old town” in memory of their former home from where they were relocated from, due to the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The city is located in the northeast part of the state of Oklahoma and it is said to be the second largest city in all of the state.
In it’s early years, Tulsa was the cattle-shipping center in the country. Due to transportation, communication, and new discoveries, it steadily grew to become a city that it is today. Huge oil deposits were discovered near Red Fork and Glenn Pool making Tulsa a center of a now growing petroleum industry.
Today, the city of Tulsa is now a metropolis and it has many attractions for visitors. Tourists can go visit the Tulsa Garden Center, a beautiful building that offers many horticultural shows and events. The next place that people love to go to is the Ida Dennie Willis Museum, a museum, which showcases more than 2,000 different early miniature dolls and toys. Another place where tourists can go to in Tulsa can be Cain’s Ballroom, a thriving and happening nightspot known for its strong country music influence.
