Washington's fourth largest city, Vancouver is home to just over 160,000 residents and is a progressive, growing community. Not to be confused with the more familiar Canadian Vancouver, Vancouver Washington is located over 300 miles from its namesake in British Columbia, and is an independent city in its own right, with its own attractions and tourist appeal.
The Vancouver Fireworks Display is a popular event, happening annually on the 4th of July and lasting for a full 45 minutes of pyrotechnic display. Based at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, the display is a popular annual attraction for visitors from the wider Washington community. The Vancouver Sausage Fest is also an important visitor draw for the city, welcoming visitors and patrons by the hundreds of thousands each and every year.
Nicknamed 'the Couve', Vancouver is in close proximity to Portland, Oregon, a large city with plenty of attractions for tourists and business travelers in its own right within easy access of the city.
