Waco is a medium-sized city in the center of Texas. The city is home to the globally popular soft drink Dr Pepper, which was created there in 1885. Today tourists can visit the Dr Pepper Museum, which offers tours, and features a soda fountain, activities, exhibits, and a gift shop.
Waco is also the birthplace of a variety of the country's leading sporting professionals, and is home to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, which is open throughout the year to the public. Cameron Park Zoo is another popular attraction amongst tourists, featuring a large number of species from around the world. The zoo's newest development, Brazos River County Exhibit, consists of a large aquarium and swamplands area, containing alligators and fish from the Gulf of Mexico. The city also contains the scenic Lake Waco, which is surrounded by several public parks and is ideal for fishing and boating enthusiasts.
