Washington, DC is the capital of the United States founded on July 16, 1790. This magnificent and powerful place is located between Virginia and Maryland. District of Columbia is originally a separate municipality in Territory of Columbia until the Congressional act in 1871 which merged the city and territory into single entity called District of Columbia or simply known to us as D.C. The first inhabitants of Washington, DC were the Nacotcchtanks in the 17th century which were later relocated in the 18th century.
Washington, DC was designed by a French architect Pierre Charles L’Enfant. He was also known to be a great city planner and engineer. He is responsible for the Baroque style of Washington DC. Among the favorite sites and museums in Washington, DC are the White House and National Mall where the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National World War II Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Albert Einstein Memorial are located. There is also the National Museum of National History and other similar museums and galleries for tourists to visit.
Economy is also rising in this area with over $97.2 billion for its gross state production in 2008. Many organizations such as law firms, independent contractors, non-profit organization, lobbying firms, trade unions, industry trade groups and professional associations contributed well in D.C.’s economic growth.
