North Carolina's fourth largest city, Winston-Salem is a hi-tech city with booming cutting edge industries and commerce. A well-regarded college city, Winston-Salem is home to four major institutions, and benefits from the diverse, cosmopolitan student populations they attract to give the city a distinctive music and arts scene, amongst its wide variety of museums and public attractions.
Old Salem is one of the city's foremost museums, packed with living-history style exhibitions focusing on the city's heritage, set amidst original period buildings. The Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology at Wake Forest University is home to a number of historical exhibitions and is popular amongst family visitors to the city.
Winston-Salem is renowned for its yearly arts festivals, with the Revolve Music and Film Festival and the RiverRun Festival amongst two of the most well-known.
